Queenstown is an urban Satellite town and development region situated in Central Singapore. Queenstown city is among the earliest commercial centers that also includes housing estates to be constructed by the Singapore Improvement Trust. Queenstown was initially a marshy valley sandwiched by the Hong Yin and the Hong Lim adjacent hills. Most of the Queenstown areas was occupied by a British army camp and a cemetery which were later cleared to pave the way for construction of the modern satellite town.  Queenstown town was built in 1953 as the first satellite town in Singapore and was named after Queen Elizabeth II, in memorial of her coronation the previous year. The city is surrounded by Tanglin Road to the east, Ridout Road to the north, Holland road to the southeastern side, Alexandra Road to the west, and the main Malayan Railway towards the southern side.  Queenstown is among the best-planned cities in Singapore with more than 11,000 flats that house more than 70,000 residents.

Most of Queenstown developments were done from the 1990s and the 2000s. Among the notable iconic landmarks that were brought down to pave the way for modern developments include the Margaret Drive Hawker Center, the Tah Chung Emporium, and the Queenstown Remand Prison. By 2005, Queenstown city had gained its attractiveness from development projects which made it be gazetted as the costliest and most beautiful city in Singapore. Queenstown is also known to house the majority of Social institutions in Singapore.

Queenstown city boost of holding many bragging rights to a collection of places of interest in Singapore which such as being the first satellite town, and containing the first sports complex. The town also boasts of having different culture collection which sprawls with hidden gems such as Michelin Gourmand cafeterias, and casual cafes which classic touches.

Queenstown has also been recognized as an eco-tourism town with numerous attraction like the once-defunct Haw Par Villa, and the Har Par Villa consisting of 150 dioramas and more than 1,000 statues representing the different scenes from the Chinese history, myth, legends, as well as demonstrating the different aspects of Confucianism. Another distinctive component in Queenstown that attracts tourists is the Holland Village. This village is always active with activities mostly in the evening. Both locals and tourists visit the numerous eateries, restaurants, and nightclubs.
