Due to the considerable makeover and transformation, with the construction of the Rainforest and the New Bird Park that requires more space, the Military training bases are expected to be moved to other planning areas such as Pulau Tekong and Lim Chu Kang. All the military bases will be released for development and expansion of the conservation facilities.
Mandai area has a well-developed transport system both on road and railway. Presence of the Mandai Road and other small feeder roads ensures that residents and visitors of Mandai can move swiftly. Also, the Region has a well-organized Mass Rapid Transit system that serves different areas in Mandai with the Thomson-East Coast Line being the biggest beneficiary as it receives large volumes of visitors to the Rainforest Park as well as the Singapore zoo and night safari.
The region became famous for having the Singapore Zoo which pays homage to more than 3000 animals from different species of reptiles, birds, and mammals. Among the most famous animal in the park is the orangutan which is the world’s first free-ranging baboon. The experience visiting the Zoo is out of this world as it offers the opportunity to interact with wild animals as you take memorable pictures.
Plans are underway to develop Mandai into a state of the art Eco-tourism hub. The development plans are set to transform Mandai to a bigger and better conservation center with the commissioning of a new Bird Park and a new Rainforest Park. The idea is to construct a multi-layered adventure tower that enables visitors to walk on top of the tree canopies and interact with the animals. The area also plans to build eco-sensitive accommodations facilities to house visitors.
